STORY BEHIND THE DISH:

Grandma used to make this for every Wiemers reunion that I can remember. I always used to look forward to the reunion because I knew she would make it. She also made it for special occasions when the whole family would get together.

INGREDIENTS:
1 small package Lime Jell-O
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup hot water
1 cup pecans, finely chopped
1 large package cream cheese, softened Maraschino cherries, optional
1 small can crushed pineapple

DIRECTIONS:

Dissolve Jell-O in hot water. Add drained pineapple juice. Slowly mix soft cream cheese and evaporated milk into Jell-O until smooth. Stir in crushed pineapple and pecans. Chill 2-3 hours before serving. Garnish with red maraschino cherries if desired. This recipe can be doubled.
